I'M kume

I am a Korean American artist living and working in Tucson, Arizona, in the United States. I love the messy process of painting and follow my creative path naturally in absolute freedom. Painting moments are a healing process for me—a mental getaway to quiet my mind.

I earned a degree in graphic art and worked as one for 20+ years, but I have always hoped to paint. With my husbands' encouragement, I gave it a go, and it was love at first try. I am a self-taught artist since 2007.

My First Painting

This painting was the beginning of my art journey!

I talked about painting maybe someday as a passing conversation with my husband at times. One day, my sweet husband brought home a pic of his friend going camping – wanting me to paint it for him – this guy is a serious camper! :-)

Give it a try! Just for fun! The hubby said.

I bought an oil painting starter kit and a 16" x 20" canvas. The whole process felt so good– It was love at first try. I have not stopped painting since. (2007)
